The farm

Eden Estate is a 12 acre Permaculture teaching and demonstration site, situated in the Lower Hunter Valley of NSW.

The property is located in Torryburn NSW, a 30 minute drive North of Maitland and a 2 and a half hour drive north of the Sydney CBD. The nearest towns are Vacy to the South and Gresford to the North.

Purchased in 2008, the property is a continual work in progress. With swales, ponds, orchards and fruit forests already in place, there are still many systems yet to be established with exciting times ahead.

The property consists of an east facing slope and backs onto the gorgeous Allyn River. The climate is temperate Mediterranean with an average rainfall of 924mm per year. Temperatures average 29°c in summer and 12°c in winter.

The homestead is beautifully constructed of mud brick and pine timber. Contact us for course accommodation options.

The farm has become more than a property for the family but a place where they have created many new friendships as well as strengthened existing ones. Enjoying the company of the local community, we have seen and valued the importance of having such a strong network to support us in our venture.

The farm is a working farm and education centre and is only open to the public on certain days for courses or other functions or by appointment, please contact us before visiting.
